10 cp
Prerequisites Pre: 10 cp of 200/300 level History or Geography units
Teaching Organisation
This unit will immerse the student in the interdisciplinary study of the history and geography of the city of Rome and its surrounds. Through a variety of lectures and assessment tasks, and an intensive ‘field school’ held in the city itself, students will examine how the geography of Rome has defined the city’s history, and how that history has shaped the physical environment through time. Students will also explore the physical and ideological influence of antiquity on the subsequent development of the Roman urban and political landscape.
